Limestone Ziggurat, by any other name, would taste as sweet. A
psychoactive terpene derived from the LSZ plant, grown on the shores of
Lake Erie. In both the ashes and the smoke, new truths can be found.
The
lungs fill with a lucid vapor, and the color of the air tints a pale
green. Ours is an age of automation and information oversaturation, the
details buried in finely printed contracts, the authors uninspired.
I reach across the blankness to you, a surrealistic spliff held in my open
palm, rolled in pages torn from a holy book with poems scribbled in the
margins. I ask for your patience while I take my time
to explain what you'll find. This place, it has been fashioned to be
deliberately outdated, everything reduced to simpler components - from the
fonts to the color palette, and of course
the soundwaves that form like pointillistic phosphenes in the
head-swimming air. Every visual element has been penned by the hand of the
Great Cephalopodian Greg Lawhun.
Every line of prose has been etched into the white void, one stoned
syllable at a time, by your humble fabulist. Every moment of sound has
been shaped from the Prima
Materia of pure controlled voltage, blue Lynchian electricity running
through the veins of the Audioholistics modular system to build these
Danielewskian walls.
Even the code that this virtual location consists of, typed one inkless
digit at a time in a WYSIWYG text editor, uploaded from inside a house
built in 1937.
Here, you will find no streaming audio or video, none of the conveniences
of instant gratification that you are no doubt well-accustomed to.
You will find only that most basic of combinatorial sensory experiences -
something to read, and something to listen to beside it.
Freely downloadable FLAC files, each a minimum of several hours long, that
will change monthly across a two-year
timespan. Published with the caveat that the burden of availability will
no longer remain mine alone -
"Keep circulating the tapes" and "The Dude abides" et al. Durational and
excessively quiet
sound-material, dwelling in the shadows of Chartier and Lopez, a wry
consideration
of "less is more" that continues to suggest that more may in fact be
less.
This Limonene Cigarette is passed to you, free of LLMs, social media
metatags,
EULAs and subscription fees. The real sound of the
underground as
only Thaemlitz would have predicted it.
All work is never finished. The statue
remains inside the stone.
